Not been following the dates these days. Would be nice to have this info..
1) How much time does it take for the EAD application to get processed (Texas Service center) for new EAD (not an extn)?
2) How much time does it take for the AP extension to get processed (TSC) if I were to apply for an extension of my old AP today?
Thanks all for your inputs.
I would anticipate EAD to be processed in max of 3 months and AP in 2 months.
Would also add a buffer of 2 weeks (just in case).

Does anyone know if the B1 visa can be extended in US? The visa stamp on the passport is for 6months. when entered US, the officer granted 5.5 months of stay.......
I am thinking I simply appy for B1 extension 30 days before I-94 expiry date and the actual visa stamp on the visa does not matter.....is it true

According to a recent Newsweek article, Immigrants irrespective of their legal status are actually good for the job market, and boost the economy.
Lou Dobbs, take note: immigrants are good for our economy. The most skilled create jobs in technology and engineering, says Duke professor Vivek Wadhwa, who estimates that in 2005 immigrant-founded engineering and tech companies employed 450,000 people and generated $52 billion in sales. But even the least skilled more than repay their costs in schools and health care. Two highly respected Australian economists, Maureen Rimmer and Peter Dixon, studied the issue for the libertarian Cato Institute. Recently my company got acquired by another company. Co A had filed for my LC, and was approved in Feb 09, and my i140 was filed in EB3 in Sept 09. Co B wants to keep me, and I will continue the same job. My H1 has also been transferred to Co B. My question is:
will there be any effect on my LC and I140? If so, what happens to my PD (Nov 08)

You need to file a COS from H-4 to H-1B. You cannot work until the H-1B is approved, because you are not in H-1B status now and therefore cannot use H-1B portability rules. You will not be subject to the cap since you have held H-1B status withing the past 6 years, and presumably not used a full 6 years.
Whether your last employer or a new employer files for a new H-1B status for you, it is still a new filing and any prior filings are not relevant, except to show that you are not subject to the cap.
By the way - this might get more comments if posted in the Nonimmigrant Visa section of the forum.

i submitted my 485 one month ago but still haven't got receipt. I just got a new job offer from a big company, which i really dont want to reject. if i transfer my h1b now, will be 485 get rejected immediately? or my h1b transfer will be rejected? thanks for your advice!

My EB2- I140 (INDIA) approved on March 09, 2007. We also have received our EAD last year after filing I-485 in July 2007.
I was checking online status and for my I-140, last updated date shows January 06, 2008. (My EB2 PD is OCT 2006). Can any one explain why the I-140 showing update date of 01/06/2008. The online status says following text :
Application Type: I140, IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR ALIEN WORKER
Current Status: Case approved; approval notice e-mailed.
On March 9, 2007, this I140 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR ALIEN WORKER was approved and we sent you an e-mail notice. Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service.
I am little bit confuse.
I appriciate your help.
